In 2023 (as of December 1, 2023), China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment approved 12 novel food raw materials, and proposed to approve 4 novel food raw materials (except approved). 1.Novel food raw materials approved in China in 2023
According to the "Announcement on 28 ‘Three New Foods’ such as Leuconostoc pseudomesenteroides "(No.1, 2023), Leuconostoc pseudomesenteroides was approved to be included in the "List of Cultures that Can Be Used in Food".
According to the "Announcement on 14 ‘Three New Foods’ such as Blueberry Anthocyanins" (No.3, 2023), Blueberry anthocyanins and Rye pollen were approved as novel food raw materials.
According to the "Announcement on 8 ‘Three New Foods’ such as Yellowhorn seed kernel” (No. 5, 2023), Yellowhorn seed kernel and Yellowhorn leaf were approved as novel food raw materials.
According to the "Announcement on 15 ‘Three New Foods’ such as Peach Gum” (No. 8, 2023), Peach gum, Tiger nut, Leuconostoc mesenteroides subsp. Cremoris, pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium (PQQ) salt were approved as novel food raw materials.
According to the "Announcement on 9 kinds of "three new foods" such as Yerba mate” (No. 10, 2023), Yerba mate, Yeast protein, Catechins were approved as novel food raw materials.
The novel food raw materials approved in the above "three new food" announcements should strictly implement the requirements in the corresponding announcements when they are used.
2. Novel food raw materials proposed to be approved in China in 2023
According to the "Public Consultation on Four Novel Food Raw Materials including Blueberry Anthocyanins", in addition to Blueberry anthocyanins, Catechins and Rye Pollen, which have been approved as novel food raw materials, China intends to approve Eggshell membrane extract as novel food raw materials.
According to the "Public Consultation on Three Novel Food Raw Materials (3R,3'S)-β,β-carotene-3,3'-Diol", China intends to approve (3R,3'S)-β,β-carotene-3,3'-Diol, Pichia kluyveri, and Bacillus subtilis DE111 as novel food raw materials.
