On September 11, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China issued Announcement No. 115 of 2024, announcing that from now on, imports of Nigerian peanuts that meet the relevant requirements will be allowed.
The peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) in this notice refers to the shelled peanut seed produced in Nigeria and exported to China for processing purposes and not for planting purposes.
Peanut exporters and storage enterprises to China shall register with the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the "China") to ensure that they comply with China's inspection and quarantine requirements. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Safety of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (hereinafter referred to as the Nigerian side) shall submit the list of exporters and warehousing enterprises to the Chinese side in advance. After the Chinese side passes the inspection or examination, it will be registered, and the list of relevant enterprises will be published on the website of the General Administration of Customs.
At the same time, the announcement also details the relevant requirements for imports, including production requirements, packaging and transportation requirements, and quarantine certificate requirements.
