On September 14, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 122 of 2024, announcing that from now on, Malawi peanuts that meet the relevant requirements will be allowed to be imported.
The peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) in this notice refers to the shelled peanut seed produced in Malawi and exported to China for processing or consumption, not for cultivation purposes.
Shelled peanuts exported to China shall come from export production, processing and storage enterprises approved by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Malawi (hereinafter referred to as the Malawian side). The above enterprises shall be recommended by the Malawian side to the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side), and shall be registered after being inspected or reviewed by the Chinese side. The Chinese side will publish the list of relevant enterprises on the website and update it dynamically.
At the same time, the announcement also details the relevant requirements for imports, including production requirements, packaging and transportation requirements, and quarantine certificate requirements.
