CAC issued requirements for import and export food inspection and certification systems

The Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) held the 27th Session of the Committee on import and Export Inspection and Certification (CCFICS 27) in Australia on September 16-20, 2024, and released the "Requirements for import and Export Food Inspection and Certification Systems".

  

The Requirements mainly include:


Revise the "Principles and Guidelines for Remote Audit and Inspection Under the framework of the Relevant Regulations";

 

Publish the relevant comments of the FAO and WHO of the United Nations and other international organizations on import and export food inspection and certification systems (CCFICS), emphasizing the need to strengthen capacity building in developing countries and the importance of the assessment of food control systems;

 

Consolidate the Codex Alimentarius Commission Guidelines on Food System Equivalence and call for attention to be paid to the implementation of the "Guidelines for the Recognition and Maintenance of Food Control System Equivalence at the National Level";

 

Implement the "Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Food Fraud";

 

Revise and update the "Principles for Traceability/Product Tracing in Food Inspection and Certification Systems";

 

Publish the "Guidelines on Application Mechanisms for Refusal of Food imports";

 

Publish the "Standardized Requirements for Hygiene Requirements";

 

Review and update new information on global food work, revising the "Principles and Guidelines for the Exchange of Information between Relevant importing and Exporting Countries" to facilitate the conduct of food trade, strengthening the digitization of food control systems at the national level, and so on.
