On September 24, 2024, Health Canada issued Consultation Paper PRVD2024-05, Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) Reassessment of 3-methyl-2-cyclohexen-1-one and its End-Use Products.
3-methyl-2-cyclohexen-1-one is known to be an anti-aggregation pheromone (information chemical) and is registered as an insect repellent to deter Douglas-fir beetles, Pinyon pine borer, Spruce beetles, and Red fat borer.
The public comment period for this registration is from September 24, 2024 to December 23, 2024.
