On October 15, 2024, the Singapore Food Authority (SFA) issued a news release stating that it is suspending the importation of poultry and its products from the vicinity of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreaks in Germany, Hungary, Poland and the United States.
Due to the HPAI outbreaks in the German state of Saxony, the Hungarian states of Berkesh and Gaz-Najskon-Szolnok, the Polish province of Lower Silesia and the US state of Idaho, Singapore will impose temporary restrictions on the importation of poultry and their products within a 10-kilometer radius of the affected areas of the outbreaks. Poultry products that meet the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) heat treatment requirements for avian influenza virus inactivation will not be affected by the import restrictions.
