Poland proposed to revise the quality requirements for strong alcoholic beverages

On October 18, 2024, the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development published a consultation document on the proposed revision of the quality requirements for strong alcoholic beverages. The feedback period ends January 21, 2025. Main contents:

 

(1) Alcoholic beverages with a unit packaging capacity of not more than 200ml (alcohol content of more than 15%) may only be placed on the market in bottles or cans and must be labeled;

 

(2) The contents of the packaging label of strong beverages should not cause doubt or mislead consumers; Spirits should be distinguished from other foods, especially children's foods;

 

(3) A transitional period of 30 days shall be granted after the entry into force of the Regulation.
