EFSA released safety assessment of the food enzyme Carboxypeptidase produced by 1 genetically modified strain of Aspergillus niger

On October 16, 2024, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published a safety assessment of the food enzyme Carboxypeptidase produced by a genetically modified strain of Aspergillus niger. The food enzyme is mainly used in the processing of dairy, meat and fish products, plant and fungal derived products and yeast products. Following the assessment, the EFSA Food Enzyme Panel concluded that the food enzyme does not pose a safety concern under the intended conditions.
