On November 7, 2024, Japan's Consumer Agency released the FY2023 Survey Report on Nutrient Composition Related to Foods for Special Purposes. Main contents:
(1) A total of 101 surveyed products were sampled and analyzed for testing, and some products were found to be problematic. Among them, the pass rate for special-purpose foods and foods for specific healthcare purposes was 100%, and the pass rate for foods with functional claims was 97.6%;
(2) There are two kinds of failures of the above products: one is that the functional ingredients in the processed raw materials meet the requirements, but the test results of the products are lower than the content requirements of the standards; the other is that the test results of the finished products contain content higher than the content requirements of the standards applied for; the above products have already been notified to stop selling, which includes the notified batches of products.
