November 6, 2024, Eurasian Economic Union website - On November 10, amendments to the Technical Regulations on Foodstuffs and their Labeling of the Eurasian Economic Union, previously adopted by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission, will enter into force.
The amendments will allow launching food products on the Eurasian Economic Union market without the need to change the label of the food product in case of change of address information of the organization or individual entrepreneur (as its manufacturer, authorized manufacturer's representative or importer).
According to the amendments to Article 39 of the Technical Regulations on Food Safety, within three years from the date of change of the name of the city, region, street, etc., in cases where the address information of the manufacturer of a food product (authorized manufacturer's representative, importer) serves as an identifier of its location, food products marked with the name of the previous location of the food product are permitted to be circulated on the market, if the actual geographic location and the actual place of production remain unchanged.
At the same time, the possible ways of conveying to the consumer true and accurate information about the location of the manufacturer (authorized manufacturer's representative, importer) of the foodstuff are provided for in Article 4 of the Technical Regulations on Food Labeling.
