Singapore revised procedures for for export of additional processed meat and egg products from overseas accredited processing establishments

On November 15, 2024, the Singapore Food Authority (SFA) announced that SFA has reviewed the procedures for accredited processors to export more processed meat and egg products with effect from December 1, 2024.The revised procedures are as follows. The revisions are as follows:

  

(1) There will be a shift from product-based approvals to a framework based on: the form of the commodity; and the commodity type of processed product to be exported;

  

(2) No application will be required for the export of additional processed products in the same form and commodity type as currently authorized;

  

(3) The current requirement to list individual products in the health certificate for traceability purposes remains unchanged, but to ensure clarity, Singapore requires that the commodity form (e.g., processed with or without heat treatment) be indicated next to each item to be exported;

  

(4) Expanding the definition of poultry to include chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, quail, pigeons, guinea fowl, and pheasants, which was limited to the four most common species-chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys-before the amendment, with no changes to SFA's poultry certification standards or veterinary import conditions.
