China became the main importer of Russian clams in the first 10 months of this year, accounting for 84% of the supply, the Rus Agro-Export Centre told the satellite news agency.

In second place was South Korea (6 per cent) and in third place Belarus (4 per cent).

In the first 10 months of 2024, Russia exported about 22,000 tonnes of clams, 1.5 times more than in the same period last year.

For the whole of last year, Russia ranked 35th among clam exporters. According to the preliminary data of the Centre for Agricultural Products Export, by 2030 the export of clams from Russia could reach 50,000 tonnes.

In June this year, the Russian Centre for the Development of Agricultural Products Exports told the satellite news agency that bilateral trade in agricultural products, raw materials and foodstuffs between Russia and China in 2023 would grow by 33.9% to $11.1 billion (9.4 million tonnes). Chinese exports of agricultural products, raw materials and foodstuffs to Russia grew by 5.8% to $2.3 billion (1.2 million tonnes). Russian exports of agricultural products to China increased 1.7 times in six years.
