Mongolia proposed to develop traceability procedures for food recalls

On 18 November 2024, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia proposed to develop a food recall traceability procedure, with a feedback period ending on 18 December 2024 for comments. Main contents:

  

(1) The scope of application is the traceability recall requirements for the whole chain of production and processing of food raw materials, auxiliary materials, finished products, and import and sales;

  

(2) Relevant definitions;

  

(3) Traceability recall requirements. Registration of food enterprises; acquisition records; product serial numbers; recalls to be reported to the competent authority within 24 hours; functions of the competent authority (issuance of registration numbers, assessment, supervision, monitoring, etc.):

  

(4) Requirements for enterprise registration information; contents of product packaging labels (name, brand, serial number, number and weight, etc.); contents of the registration form for traceability of imported food (name of imported food, brand, batch number, barcode or two-dimensional code, importer's name, address, contact telephone number and e-mail, etc.).
