Foreword
This standard replaces GB/T 23209-2008 “Determination of lutein in milk powder-HPLC-UV method”.
Compared with GB/T 23209-2008, the major changes of this standard are as follows:
——the name of standard has been revised to “National food safety standard Determination of lutein in foods”;
——the scope of application has been expanded, the method for liquid chromatography determination of lutein in frozen drinks, rice & flour products, bakery products, jams, jelly and beverages has been added.
——the principles of original standard has been revised, the extraction taking acetone as solvent has been revised to the extraction with ethyl ether-n-hexane-cyclohexane solvent
system;
——the notes during operation process have been added;
——the saponification procedures for samples with high fat content including milk powder have been added and different pretreatment methods have been provided to adapt the matrix analysis needs of all kinds of samples;
——the requirements for concentration correction of lutein standard solution have been added;
——the qualitative and quantitative requirements for cis-lutein generated due to isomerization have been added specific to the isomerization phenomena that may occur to lutein during the test operation process.
