The foods refused for entry did not comply with China’s laws and regulations. The main reasons of rejection were failure to provide certificates or certification materials as required (the most), failure to obtain inspection and quarantine access, unqualified labels, food additive use problems, inconsistencies in the certificate, microbial contamination. In addition, some foods have been found to use nutrient fortifiers beyond the scope, exceed the expiration date, contain ingredients that have not been quarantined, detect non-edible additives, detect unlabeled genetically modified ingredients, excessive pesticide residues, and other problems.
