Chenzhou Big Head Baby Incident: Enterprise has No permission to produce milk powder
Recently, a number of parents claimed that their children had "big head baby" symptoms after consuming a "milk powder for special medical purposes" named "Beianmin" bought from a mothercare shop in Chenzhou, Hunan Province, which triggered heated discussion.
According to public information from authorities, the administrative license and qualification certificate for production of solid drinks were obtained in August, 2018 and production of milk powder or food for special medical purposes are not in the business scope of the manufacturer.
The incident has attracted great attention from State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR). SAMR requested that Hunan Provincial Administration for Market Regulation shall thoroughly investigate the illegal acts of posing ordinary food (solid drink) as food for special medical purposes.
