On October 19, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) reported that the Panel on Nutrition, Novel Foods and Food Allergens (NDA) issued scientific opinions on the safety of Schizochytrium sp. oil as a new food. After evaluation, the expert team concluded that Schizochytrium sp. oil is safe as a new food under the proposed conditions of use.
