Due to the continuous adverse effects of climate change, the Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters, importers and Merchants Association (PFVA) predicts that the country's mango production will decrease by around 20% to 1.44 million tons in 2023 from 1.8 million tons.

PFVA stated that the prolonged winter and late summer led to a decline in mango production, and the disease resistance of fruit trees also decreased.

This year, Pakistan has developed an export plan for 125,000 tons of mangoes, with total exports expected to reach US$100 million. The export activity started on May 20th, and the main export destinations are Gulf countries, Iran, Central Asian countries, the UK, Europe, Canada, the United States, and Japan. Last year, Pakistan exported only 23.95 tons of fresh and dried mangoes to China, which was lower than 37.42 tons exported in 2021 and far below the previous export plan of 100 tons.

Mango production in Pakistan is concentrated in Punjab and Sindh provinces, accounting for 70% and 29% of total mango production, respectively. 50% of export mangoes are transported by sea, 35% by land, and 15% by air transport.
