Thai canned fish export prospects are good, ranking second largest exporter in the world

According to the Thai network reported on July 19, a few days ago, Ms. Alamon, director of the Thai International Trade Negotiation Office, revealed that canned and processed fishery products are Thailand's potential products. At present, Thailand's canned fish exports rank first in ASEAN and second in the world, second only to China. 


It is understood that from January to May this year, Thailand exported $1.145.3 billion worth of canned and processed fishery products to the global market, and exported $351.7 million worth of canned and processed fishery products to countries that have signed free trade agreements (FTAs). Among FTA countries, Japan (22.7 percent growth), Chile (96.7 percent), Peru (183.1 percent), China (25.7 percent), Cambodia (11.9 percent), and the Philippines (138.1 percent) continued to grow by 15.7 percent compared to the same period last year. Exports of canned and processed fishery products to Free Trade Agreement (FTA) countries increased in the first five months of this year, with canned tuna up 17.2 percent and accounting for 51.6 percent of total exports. Cooked tuna, caviar, salmon, sardines and mackerel increased by 18.2%, accounting for 32.6% of total exports; Canned sardines increased 8.4%, accounting for 4.6% of total exports; Canned other fish grew by 6.2% and accounted for 11.1% of total exports, up 4.6% year-on-year.
