On July 28, 2023, Health Canada issued a proposal to allow vitamin D fortification in yogurt and related products, the specific requirements are shown in the table below; At the same time, it is proposed to stipulate that yogurts fortified with vitamin D and their related products are exempt from the nutrition label requirements on the front of the package, that is, there is no need to mark the nutrition symbol indicating that the product is fortified with vitamin D on the label. The proposal is subject to a comment period ending August 28, 2023.
