In order to thoroughly introduce FSMP, Global Foodmate has deliberately organized and collected special topic about FSMP for this week. In this week, Global Foodmate will introduce the FSMP with a series of articles. The topic will cover introduction, market, regulations, registration, and Q&A of the FSMP.
This is the second article of the series, mainly introduce the development history of FSMP in China and summary of laws and regulations about FSMP registration.

The Development History of the FSMP in China

Initial 1970-2000
In 1974, Beijing had a report on the clinical application of FSMP
With the development of clinical nutrition, the clinical effects and social values of FSMP was recognized
Emphasis 2002-2009
FSMP was firstly classified by China Medical Association
The importance of correct nutrient consumption was stated in China Nutrition Improvement Action Plan
China issued requirements for technology and function of FSMP
Improvement 2009-2015
FSMP was clarified in the new China Food Safety Law
2 products standards and 1 manufacture standard were issued
CFDA issued the “Administrative Measure for the Registration of Formula Foods for Special Medical Uses (Trial)
Standardization 2016-future
Special food registration department was established
FSMP enters to standard product registration, production and promotion
