South Africa Amends Liquor Products Law
On August 13, 2021, the South African government website issued Announcement No. 44988 to amend the Liquor Products Law. The main content includes:
(1) Revise the definition of natural wine;
(2) Revise the range of raw materials used;
(3) Revise the distillation process requirements;
(4) Provisions are made on the barrels of wine in barrels for aging;
(5) Revise the naming requirements for barrel-aged wine and flavored vodka;
(6) Revise the requirements for the use and labeling of sulfite, gluten, alcohol, etc. in the label;
(7) Revise the labeling requirements of grape varieties;
(8) Revise the requirements for alcohol content and maturation time of low-alcohol wine and aging;
(9) Revise the requirements for additives, flavors and fragrances and processing aids;
(10) Revise the classification of some wines, such as wine, brandy and sparkling wine.
