On January 26, 2022, the US FDA proposed an update to the Food Contact Notification (FCN) system. The proposed rule will change how the agency determines when the FCN is no longer valid. This revision is intended to allow FDA to better ensure the safety and scope of use of food contact substances, as well as inform manufacturers' business decisions, while improving the efficiency of the FCN program.

Public comment deadline is April 11, 2022.
