On 20 April 2022, the European Commission published Regulation (EU) 2020/653, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1831/2003 of the European Parliament and of the European Council,  a preparation of the leaves extract of Melissa officinalis L. is approved as a feed additive for all animal species. 

This additive is authorized as an animal additive under the category "sensory additives" and the functional group "Flavoring Compounds" under the conditions specified in the annex.  The expiration date of authorization is May 11, 2032.  These regulations shall take effect twenty days from the date of promulgation.
