On July 27, South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) announced that aflatoxin was found in two kinds of Korean doenjang products produced and sold by a South Korean food production and processing enterprise, and ordered it to stop selling and recall related products.
Test items: Total aflatoxin (sum of B1,B2,G1 and G2)
South Korea standard: below ㎍ 15.0 / kg (but B1 should be below 10.0 ㎍ / kg)
Results: ㎍ 17.9 / kg (B1 ㎍ 16.4 / kg) and 20.4 ㎍ / kg (B1 ㎍ 8.8 / kg)
Recall subject: Products with expiration dates of July 5, 2023, and June 19, 2023.
