Canada revises the list of permitted curing agents

On August 5, 2022, Health Canada issued NOM/ADM-0186 to revise the list of permitted curing agents.
 
From time to time, Health Canada makes slight modifications to the list of permitted food additives, such as correction to errors, improvement of clarity, achievement of terms’ consistency used in the list, or to alignment of the list with amendments to Part B of the Food and Drug Regulations. These small changes are not intended to alter the permitted use of food additives.
 
To increase clarity and ensure terminology consistency, Health Canada replaced "tomato" with "canned tomato" , replaced "canned vegetables" with "canned (named vegetables)" and "non-standardized canned vegetables" in the list of permitted curing agents, effective August 5, 2022.
