India revises food and food additive standards and regulations


On December 31, 2020, the Food Standards Agency of India issued F. No. 1-116/ Scientific Committee / Notif. / 2010-FSSAI Food Standards Regulations (Food Standards and Food Additives) 2020 No. 10 Amendment, the revised part The content is as follows:

1. Redefine refined vegetable oil;

2. Delete the Berlière test in Article 2.2 (this test is used to detect the presence of peanut oil);

3. In Article 2.3, "heat-treated juice" is changed to "juice", which is divided into heat-treated juice and non-heat-treated juice, and related physical and chemical standards are listed;

4. New items such as cashew nut kernels, water chestnut powder, colored foods, etc., are listed to specify the quality parameter standards such as appearance quality, water content, free fatty acid content, and pigment content.

The amendment will take effect on July 1, 2021.
