Sweden proposed to amend food information regulations

On July 3, 2024, the Swedish Food Agency issued Circular 2024/0377/SE proposing to amend the food information regulation with a comment period ending on October 4, 2024. The main revisions include:

 

(1) Meat from bovine, porcine, sheep, goat and poultry that is used as a food ingredient in restaurants and other catering activities and is offered to consumers in non-prepackaged form must provide the country of origin, and exemption conditions have been established;

 

(2) The relevant information shall be identified by the words "country of origin" or a leading word of the same meaning, and the country of origin shall be recognized in accordance with the requirements of regulations (EU) 1760/2000 and (EU) 1169/2011.
