On October 23, 2024, the Austrian Health and Food Safety Authority (AGES) issued a recall notice that Coca-Cola HBC Austria GmbH is recalling a number of products due to the suspected presence of metal fragments in the products.

It is understood that the possibility that small pieces of metal may be contained in a very small number of 0.5-liter PET plastic bottles cannot be ruled out due to a technical error in the production process.

The recall includes 0.5-liter plastic bottles of Coca-Cola, Fanta, and Sprite with a shelf life between February 4, 2025, and April 12, 2025, with the code "WP" below the printed date, and is expected to involve about 28 million bottles.

As a precautionary measure, the company is recalling these products in close cooperation with the Austrian authorities. All other package sizes or other brands are not affected by the recall.

The Austrian Health and Food Safety Authority says consumers can return these products to Austrian food retailers for a refund of the purchase price without presenting a receipt.
