China GAC Unqualified imported Foods & Cosmetics in March, 2019

According to the monthly notice of unqualified foods and cosmetics by GAC, 121 batches of imported foods and 1 batch of imported cosmetics were found unqualified and refused for entry in March, 2019.

Unqualified foods came from 20 countries or regions, involving 16 categories. Botanical seasonings, beverages, vegetables and their products were the major unqualified food categories.

The foods refused for entry did not comply with China’s laws and regulations. The main reasons of rejection were: lack of inspection and quarantine approval, unqualified quality (harmful organisms were detected, peptide content did not meet the standard requirement, etc.), excessive use of food additives.

According to the information, unqualified imported foods came from 4 major companies, namely, 15 batches of fresh peppers produced by AN KHANG LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY in Vietnam (carrying harmful organisms), 27 batches of seasonings produced by DPF Ekotehnika-M LTD in Ukraine (lack of inspection and quarantine approval), 11 batches of candies produced by RIBON CO., LTD in Japan (excessive use of food additives) and 11 batches of solid drinks produced by VI BAND INDUSTRIES S LTD in Bulgaria (non-compliant peptide content).

One batch of unqualified cosmetics came from Germany, which was perfume. The rejection reason was failure to provide filing certificates as required.

The above mentioned unqualified foods and cosmetics had been returned or destroyed at ports, according to GAC.
