On September 7, the General Administration of Customs issued the Notification on Phytosanitary Requirements for im
porting Zambian Fresh Blueberries. Since the date of this notification, it allows the im
port of fresh Zambian blueberries that meet the quarantine requirements.
1. Inspection and quarantine basis:

2. Product name allowed to enter: Fresh Blueberries (scientific name: Vaccinium L.)
3. Allowed origin: Chisamba region, Republic of Zambia.
4. Approved orchards and packaging companies: The Plant Quarantine Service (PQPS) of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Zambia (MOA) has filed the blueberry orchard, packaging companies, cold storage and related processing facilities, and reported to the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) for registration.
5. List of quarantine pests that need to pay attention to:
Ceratitis capitate, Ceratitis rosa, Ceratitis cosyra, Ceratitis punctate, Ceroplastes rusci, Pseudococcus longispinus, Ischnaspis longirostris
6. Blueberry orchards should implement Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and implement integrated pest control (IPM) under the supervision of PQPS. Each Bluberry packaging box should be marked with English information such as fruit type, country, place of origin (state, city or county), packaging plant name or registration number. " Exported to the People’s Republic of China" must be marked in English or Chinese on each tray. Blueberries exported to China must be cold treated. The specific requirements are as follows:
Before export, it is required to pass the quarantine inspection. The PQPS shall issue a phytosanitary certificate, and indicate in the additio
nal statement of the certificate: “THIS Co
nSIGNMENT OF BLUEBERRIES COMPLIES WITH REQUIREMENTS SPECIFIED IN THE PROTOCOL OF PHYTOSANITARY REQUIREMENTS FOR EXPORT OF ZAMBIAN FRESH BLUEBERRIES TO CHINA, AND IS FREE FROM ANY QUARANTINE PESTS OF Co
nCERN TO CHINA.”
7. When entering the country, it is necessary to review the “Entry Animal and Plant Quarantine Permit", the phytosanitary certificate, and the co
nformity of the packaging label. Products that do not meet the requirements shall be returned, destroyed or handled in accordance with China's phytosanitary regulations. The GACC will inform PQPS at once. PQPS should investigate, identify the reasons and implement correspo
nding improvement measures.
8. According to the dynamics of the Zambian blueberries’ epidemic situation, GACC will co
nsult with PQPS to
adjust the list of harmful pests and related quarantine measures.
