According to the "Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China" and approved by the National Food Safety Standards Review Committee, 50 national food safety standards including the "National Food Safety Standard Cheese" (GB5420-2021) and 4 amendments have been issued.

Japan releases draft revisions of "Specifications and Standards for Food, Additives, etc

On March 18, 2021, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan issued a draft of amendments to the "Specifications and Standards for Foods, Additives, etc.", which intends to establish or amend four pesticide and veterinary drug residue standards.

The pesticides and veterinary drugs involved are: veterinary drug dichloroisocyanuric acid, pesticides buflufenapyr, thiazamide and thiensulfuron.

The deadline for soliciting the above opinions is April 16, 2021.

Japan releases partial amendments to "Food Labeling Standards"

On March 17, 2021, the Consumer Agency of Japan issued Order No. 10 of the Cabinet Office to make partial amendments to the Food Labeling Standards, and at the same time issued Notice No. 115 of the Digestion Table to make some amendments to the Questions and Answers on Food Labeling Standards. The main content of this revision is the relevant labeling methods and precautions for the origin, variety, and production year of brown rice and polished rice.

This notice will take effect on July 1, 2021.

South Korea unified labeling of imported and domestic salt

On March 15th, according to Korean media reports, South Korea issued a partial amendment to the "Implementation Rules of the Salt Industry Revitalization Law" to unify the labeling standards for imported and domestic salt and relax restrictions.

Before the amendment of the regulations, domestic salt needs to indicate the year and month of production, and imported salt needs to indicate the year, month, and day of import. After the amendment of the regulations, the year, month, or date of production shall be indicated on the packaging and container of domestic salt. The import year, month, or import year, month, and day are marked on the container, etc.

In addition, the inspection and confirmation mark of salt that has passed the quality inspection will use the national unified certification mark stipulated in the Basic Law of National Standards.
