Singapore adjusts import restrictions on poultry products from areas affected by Danish highly pathogenic avian influenza

On March 19, 2021, the Singapore Food Authority (SFA) announced that it would adjust the import restrictions on poultry and their products near the place where the highly pathogenic avian influenza occurred in Denmark.

It is understood that on December 19, 2020, Singapore imposed temporary import restrictions on poultry and their products from areas affected by the H5N8 highly pathogenic avian influenza epidemic in Randers, Denmark.

At present, the epidemic in the region has been resolved, and the Singapore Food Authority said that the above import restrictions have been lifted.

Due to the H5N8 highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak in Kalundborg, Denmark, from March 12, 2021, the import of poultry and its products in Kalundborg will be temporarily restricted. Poultry products that meet the requirements of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) for avian influenza virus inactivation and heat treatment will not be affected by import restrictions. Poultry products exported from Kalundborg before March 12, 2021 and slaughtered before February 19, 2020 will continue to be accepted for import.

In order to facilitate the customs clearance of other poultry and poultry products, when importing poultry and products, the attached veterinary health certificate should also include the following additional certifications:

A. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) and H5 and H7 low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) are notifiable diseases in exporting countries.

B. According to the definition of OIE, poultry derived from meat are not vaccinated with H5 and H7 subtypes of avian influenza vaccine.

C. Poultry meat and meat products are not poultry originating from the Danish cities of Ringsted, Slauelse, Viborg, Bornholm and Kalundborg.

D. Poultry derived from meat were born, raised and slaughtered in Denmark, or day-old chicks legally imported from a country with the same poultry health status.
