The Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal, BPJPH) has completed an evaluation of the Islamic Food and Nutrition Commission of America (IFANCA) as part of the process of mutual recognition and acceptance of halal product assurance between Indonesia and the United States, according to the news on the website of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion on September 30, 2022.
Aqil Irham, head of BPJPH, said: "If there are institutions (in the US) that meet Indonesia's requirements and standards in terms of halal product assurance, then entrepreneurs from the US don't have to bother to prove that their products are halal and can enter the Indonesian market."
IFANCA is the second overseas halal certification body evaluated by Indonesia, after BPJPH had completed its Mutual Recognition (MRA) application evaluation for the Korean Muslim Federation (KMF). At present, Indonesia have received 97 applications for mutual recognition and evaluation from more than 40 countries.
