On November 3, 2022, the Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) released the draft 2022 amendments to the Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives) for a 60-day comment period. The main contents include:
(1) Newly formulated sausage product standards, including application scope, sensory requirements, preparation and processing requirements (such as cooked sausage heat treatment center temperature should not be less than 75°C), storage temperature requirements and physical, chemical, microbial and other indicators;
(2) Newly formulated dehydrated tarragon product standards, mainly including physical and chemical index requirements of dehydrated tarragon and dehydrated tarragon powder;
(3) New standards of Indian traditional food products such as Indian Mithais and Indian Namkeens were formulated.
