Nearly 90 Percents of Cambodian bananas were sold to China

In the first 10 months of 2022, Cambodia exported 325,859 tons of bananas to the international market, a year-on-year decrease of 12%, of which nearly 90% were exported to China.


According to a circular issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, from January to October this year, Cambodia exported 293,060 tons of bananas to the Chinese market, a year-on-year decrease of about 9.33%; exported 32,799 tons to Vietnam, a year-on-year decrease of 27.39%; exported 0.1% to Japan. tons, a year-on-year decrease of 99.98%.


Hong Le, general manager of Cambodia Longmate Agriculture Company, pointed out that China is the main export market for Cambodian bananas. Due to the tightening of epidemic prevention and control measures at Chinese ports of entry, Cambodian banana exports have declined in the first 10 months of this year, while Cambodian fresh mango exports have also suffered setbacks. General Manager Hong Le believed that after the opening of the Chinese market, Cambodian banana exports will improve.
