According to Chilean media Simfruit, between January and November 2022, Chilean fruit exports totaled 3.24 million tons, worth US$6.594 billion. Compared with the same period last year, the export volume was basically unchanged, while the export value increased by 0.5%. Among them, 66.6% are fresh fruits, 24.1% are processed fruits (juice, fruit oil, jam, frozen fruit, dried fruit), and 9.2% are nuts (walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, etc.).
Fresh Fruits
From January to November 2022, Chile's fresh fruit exports will reach 2.47 million tons, valued at US$4.394 billion (FOB). Compared with the same period last year, the export volume decreased by 1%, and the export value decreased by 4.1%.
The main export category of fresh fruit is cherries, with an export volume of 291,000 tons and a value of US$1.54 billion (FOB), a year-on-year increase of 8.5% and 27% respectively, with a total of 90.1% exported to China.
After cherries are table grapes, with an export volume of 605,209 tons and a value of US$876 million (FOB). Compared with the same period last year, the export volume increased by 16%, and the export value decreased by 3.7%. The export destination country is the United States (50%), followed by China (12%).
In third place was apples, with exports of 596,827 tons valued at US$518.68 million (FOB), a decrease of 6.3% and 14.8%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. Chilean apples are exported to several countries, including Colombia (14%), the United States (12%), Brazil (10%) and Ecuador (10%). Ranked fourth is blueberries, with an export volume of 92,385 tons and a value of US$372.17 million (FOB), a decrease of 5.7% and 25.8% respectively compared with the same period last year. The main export destinations are the United States (47.1%) and Netherlands (19.7%). The export value of prunes ranked fifth, and the above five fruits accounted for 80.2% of Chile's total fresh fruit exports during the statistical period.
Processed Fruit
From January to November 2022, Chilean exports of processed fruit amounted to 628,295 tons, valued at US$1.591 billion (FOB), a year-on-year increase of 3% and 18.2%, respectively. The category with the highest export value is frozen fruit (32.6%), followed by dried fruit (26.2%), canned fruit (21.9%), fruit juice (14.7%) and fruit oil (4.6%). Compared with the same period last year, only the export value of fruit juice decreased by 1.7%, and the export value of other categories increased, among which the export value of fruit oil and jam increased by more than 30%.
Of all dried fruits, prunes and raisins accounted for US$233.15 million and US$118.65 million (FOB), respectively. During the statistical period, the main export destinations of prunes were China and Mexico, while raisins were mainly sold to the United States and China. According to Chinese customs statistics, from January to November 2022, China imported a total of 6,548.565 tons of dried Chilean prunes and plums, worth about 151 million yuan; imported 4,016.031 tons of raisins, worth about 59.7 million yuan.
Nut
During the statistical period, the export volume of Chilean nuts was 143,000 tons, worth 609.4 million US dollars (FOB), the export volume increased by 4.8% year-on-year, and the export value decreased by 3.9%. The most important export products were in-shell and shelled walnuts, with exports of 85,107 tons and 31,750 tons respectively, valued at US$ 251.4 million and US$ 197.85 million (FOB), accounting for 41.3% and 32.5% of Chilean nut exports in the same period, respectively .
