Recently, the Consulate General of Pakistan in Shanghai and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) held an online seminar to promote Pakistani mangoes in the Chinese market. More than 5 Pakistani mango export companies and 5 Chinese import companies participated in the seminar. Consul General Hussain Haider said that they are looking forward to increasing the presence of Pakistani mangoes in China.

In 2018, Pakistan's mango production was about 1.9 million tons, ranking sixth in the world. However, mango production has declined in the past five years due to climate change due to global warming.

Pakistan's annual mango export volume is only about 150,000 tons, which is far below the production volume. In 2022, Pakistan will export 23.95 tons of fresh or dried mangoes to China with an export value of US$55,605, down from 37.42 tons and US$127,200 in 2021.

Currently, Pakistani mango orchards are in the flowering period, and the production is expected to reach 1.7 million tons. Sanlian International has exported Pakistani mangoes for four consecutive years. Company CEO Victor Luo said that last year's severe floods led to a decline in mango production and quality. At the same time, the epidemic affected logistics and transportation. Complicated inspection and quarantine procedures led to a decline in mango exports to China.

Victor said that the flavor, appearance and size of Pakistani mangoes have always been favored by high-end Chinese consumers. This year the company will try to increase export volume, while upgrading packaging and strengthening protection.
