China becomes the second largest buyers of Chilean Grape

According to the latest report of the Asoex, as of the eighth week of 2023, the export volume of Chilean table grapes in the 2022/23 season will reach 23,903,222 boxes (8.2 kg/box, the same below), an increase of 17% year-on-year.

 

Chile's PortalPortuario website reported on March 4 that in terms of export destinations, North America is the largest export destination for Chilean table grapes (accounting for 73%), followed by mainland China and Hong Kong (6%) and Europe (6%) ).

 

In terms of varieties, as of the 8th week of 2023, Chilean red grapes accounted for 36% of exports, an increase of 8% year-on-year, white grapes accounted for 51% (+25%), and black grapes accounted for 9% (+ 30%). In addition, 67% of the exported table grapes were new varieties.

 

Ignacio Caballero, marketing director of Asoex and coordinator of the table grape committee, said: "North America and Asia are the main export destinations of Chilean table grapes, with a combined share of about 80%. We want to avoid simplifying the export market and expand other markets outside the United States."

 

According to the forecast, in the 2022/23 season, the North American, Asian and European markets will receive 35,919,879 boxes, 13,838,353 boxes, and 9,165,309 boxes of Chilean table grapes respectively. In addition, the seventh week to the 12th week of 2023 is the peak period for Chilean grape exports this season.
