On March 3, 2023, BICON released the latest biosafety conditions and requirements for imported pickled and canned fruits, vegetables, and algae products in Australia. Pickling treatment in which vegetables and algae products are boiled into jam or jelly.
The latest import conditions and requirements mainly include:
(1) There is no need to apply for an import license to the Australian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
(2) Pickled fruits, vegetables, and algae products must use eight pickling methods such as salt, sugar, vinegar, wine pickling, steaming or storage.
(3) Canned fruits, vegetables, and algae products must be commercially sterile and meet the five commercial aseptic packaging types and packaging requirements such as iron cans, glass bottles, and sterilization bags.
(4) The manufacturer's statement, invoice, bill of lading, product composition and processing detailed description, product label and other documents proving that the goods meet the above processing requirements must be attached.
(5) It stipulates the handling measures such as return and destruction of goods that do not meet the requirements.
The above import conditions and requirements will come into effect on March 3, 2023.
