On 3 March 2023, the Indian Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) announced changes to the requirements for veterinary health certificates, combining the health requirements of DAHD with the food safety requirements of ministries such as the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), which are now focusing on technical requirements for veterinary health. The revised veterinary health certificate requires the country of origin to demonstrate that the relevant milk and milk products exported to India have professionally certified information and materials.

The revised veterinary health certificate requirement is effective from the date of publication and India allows a transition period of 60 days (counting from the date of publication) to facilitate trade development.
