Recently, Malaysian growers said that the local durian season has already started, and this year's bumper harvest will make durian prices lower than before.
At the end of April, parts of Malaysia were hit by torrential rains, which only caused damage to a few local farms. Coupled with the proper control of diseases and insect pests in the orchard this year, the quantity and quality of durians have improved.
Over the past few years, due to the reduction in durian production in Malaysia, prices have increased significantly. With the increase in production this year, the price of durian has also been reduced. According to reports, the price of Musang King will drop from RM40/kg (62.4 yuan/kg) to as low as RM20-30/kg (31.2-46.8 yuan/kg).
Prices are expected to drop by 5%-10% for most durians. At present, the mature durians have started to be shipped one after another. The durian season will peak in June and July and continue until late October.
