The European Union recently issued a notice on amending Regulation No. 2019/1973 on emergency control measures for imported food in the European Union. Specifically, the European Union officially transferred Vietnamese instant noodles from Appendix II (must produce food safety certificate and accept border inspection) to Appendix I (no food safety certificate required, border inspection frequency is 20%).

On January 1, 2022, the European Union will implement import control regulations on Vietnamese rice noodles, rice noodles, and vermicelli. only six months later, the Vietnamese Economic and Commercial Office in Belgium and the EU successfully persuaded the EU to remove Vietnamese rice noodles, rice noodles, and vermicelli from the list of food safety certificates that need to be reapplied. Eighteen months later, Vietnamese instant noodles were transferred from Appendix II to Appendix I. . This reflects the great efforts of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam in food safety supervision and supporting enterprises.

Tran Ngoc Jun, Vietnam's commercial counselor to Belgium and the EU, said that the EU still enforces a 20% port inspection frequency for Vietnamese instant noodles. The frequency will be increased to 50%, and it will be returned to Appendix II. Therefore, Vietnamese instant noodle exporters must strictly abide by EU regulations, implement food safety regulations, and consider voluntary testing measures in reputable laboratories.

In addition, according to Regulation No. 2019/1973, Vietnamese sweet peppers are still included in Appendix I, and the inspection frequency at border ports is 50%. Okra and dragon fruit are listed in Appendix II, and the inspection frequencies are 50% and 20% respectively.
