On July 3, the General Administration of Customs issued Announcement No. 80 of 2023, announcing that Italian fresh pears that meet relevant requirements will be allowed to import from now on.
Orchards, packaging plants and cold treatment facilities exported to China must be reviewed and filed with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry of the Republic of Italy (hereinafter referred to as the "Italian side"), and approved for registration by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the "Chinese side"). The registration information must include name, address and registration number, so as to accurately trace the source when the exported goods do not meet the relevant requirements. Before the annual export season, the Italian side should provide the Chinese side with a registration list, which will be published on the website of the General Administration of Customs after being reviewed and approved by the Chinese side.
At the same time, the announcement also lists in detail the relevant requirements for imports, including packaging requirements, quarantine treatment requirements, and phytosanitary certificate requirements.
