On July 8, 2023, the Chilean Ministry of Agriculture issued Resolution No. 4027, establishing sanitary requirements for imported milk and dairy products. The resolution entered into force six months after its publication in the official Gazette. The main contents are as follows:
1. The country or region of origin of the production of goat milk and dairy products must be a non-scrapie epidemic area, and the country or region of the production of cow milk and dairy products must be a non-foot-and-mouth disease epidemic area; And must be assessed by the Chilean Ministry of Agriculture qualified to export to Chile;
2. Enterprises that process milk and dairy products must obtain authorization from the health authorities of the country of origin and must obtain authorization from the Ministry of Agriculture of Chile to export to Chile; Processing raw materials produced in third countries must also come from enterprises authorized to export to Chile; Enterprises should establish a traceability plan;
3. Dairy processing. Pasteurization or ultra-high temperature instantaneous sterilization;
4. Packaging and labeling requirements. Indicate the country of origin, production enterprise (enterprise name and official number), product name and production batch, processing date and net weight;
5. Health certificate requirements. Milk and dairy products must be accompanied by an official health certificate, issued in the official language of the country of origin and Spanish, agreed in advance by the health authorities of the country of origin with the Ministry of Agriculture of Chile, attesting to the compliance with the conditions set out in the resolution and clearly indicating that the product is intended for human consumption.
