On July 25, 2023, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission amended the technical regulations on food safety requirements for chocolate and its products and cocoa products, to be implemented on the date of publication. Main contents:
1. The total amount of cocoa solids in chocolate must be at least 35%, of which the cocoa butter content must be 18% or more;
2. In the production of chocolate, the use of animal fat, except milk fat, is not allowed; The use of cocoa butter or cocoa butter improvers is permitted, and the proportion of chocolate should not exceed 5%. Chocolate or cocoa flavoring is not allowed; In the production of milk, special grade milk and white chocolate, no fragrances shall be used to imitate the taste of milk or cream or cream.
3. The filled chocolate must contain at least 25% chocolate. The filled chocolate does not include baking products, powdered candy products and ice cream products with chocolate.
