Japan revises food and food additive standards

On July 26, 2023, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare issued Notice No. 0726 No. 1 , revising the "Food and Food Additive Standards". The main contents are:

 

Revised the maximum residue limits (MRLS) of agricultural and veterinary drugs such as isoprothiolane in some foods, some specific limits are shown in the table below;

 

Developed specifications for food additive calcium phytate, and specified the scope of use and dosage requirements (only allowed to add in wine, the maximum dosage is 0.08g/L);

 

The use of food additive copper sulfate now allowed in wine, the maximum dosage is 10mg/L.

 

The announcement shall be implemented as of the date of promulgation, and the change of the maximum residue limit for pesticides and veterinary drugs shall take effect one year after the date of promulgation.
