Indonesia released 2 lists of substances prohibited from being used in food processing

On September 4, 2023, the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration issued Regulation No. 22 of 2023, which is a list of 2 substances prohibited from being used or added in food processing. Specifically, they are:


1. List of substances from natural sources that are prohibited from being added or used, including 156 substances such as acacia seeds and whole aconitum;


2. Chemically synthesized substances that are prohibited from being added or used, including 6 substances such as lipoic acid and acetyl-L-carnitine.


The regulations come into effect on the date of publication in the Government Gazette.
