According to a report from Thailand's Star Siam Daily on September 6, China Customs has suspended the import of aquatic products from Japan since August 24 this year. Thailand will have the opportunity to export more seafood products and gain more share in the Chinese market to make up for the ban. Missing market share after Japanese imports. Thailand's good product quality will increase its share of the Chinese market, and some aquatic products will benefit from increasing exports to China, such as fresh, frozen, frozen and processed squid, shellfish, fish and shrimp.

In the first seven months of 2023, Thailand exported US$221.9 million (+45.5%) of aquatic products to China and US$31.4 million (+48.7%) of processed aquatic products. According to import data from the Ministry of Commerce, Thailand imports a small proportion of aquatic products from Japan. In the first seven months, Thailand imported US$94.7 million of fresh, refrigerated, frozen, processed and semi-finished aquatic products from Japan, totaling 63,951 tons, ranking fourth in Thailand. The largest source of imports, accounting for 5.3%, is second only to India, Taiwan and Mainland China. Thailand currently has no measures to ban the import of aquatic products from Japan, but relevant authorities have strengthened monitoring of aquatic products before entering Thailand. In order to ensure the safety of consumers, if contaminated aquatic products are found, the government will take measures to return or destroy them, and immediately announce the information to the public. Officials from the Ministry of Commerce said that Thai seafood exports strictly implement relevant health regulations to ensure quality, safety and reliability.
