On October 26, 2023, TASS news agency and the Russian Legal Portal reported that the Russian Ministry of Agriculture proposed a ban on the export of poultry eggs from Russia for a period of six months.

This is mentioned in the draft resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation, which has been published on the portal of the Federal Regulations Project. "In order to curb the increase in consumer prices of socially important products and prevent shortages, a temporary ban on the export of food and poultry eggs outside the territory of the Russian Federation is proposed for a period of six months," the document reads. The information clearly states that the planned regulatory project implementation time is December 2023.

It is mentioned in the project card that the internal price of poultry eggs is currently increasing significantly in the Russian Federation. "According to the departmental monitoring of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, there was an increase of 24 percent compared to the same period last year," the data reads. "This situation is mainly related to the increase in the production cost of this product in the context of the high exchange rate of the US dollar. In addition, the current situation makes it too attractive to export the product compared to supplying it on the domestic market, which poses a threat to the food safety of the Russian Federation, "the ministry explained.

Previously, the ministry also proposed a ban on the export of certain types of poultry meat from Russia for a period of six months.
